HOW IT WORKS

Three steps. Ready for what’s next.

01

Add your files

Choose WEBP files or a folder. Files stay on your device.

02

Compress and compare

Choose quality and optionally reduce image dimensions, then compare the output.

03

Download the results

Download each result or one ZIP. If compression does not save space, the original is retained.

About Compress WebP.

Compress WEBP locally

Upload one or more files, review the before-and-after sizes and download your results. Processing takes place in your browser. Each file can be up to 50 MB.

What changes

The image is re-encoded at your selected quality. This is lossy compression and embedded metadata is not copied. An optional maximum width reduces dimensions while retaining proportions. Animated WebP files are kept unchanged.

Compare before saving

An already optimized file may not shrink. The tool keeps the original whenever the candidate is equal to or larger than the input, so a download never grows because of compression. Quality and dimension changes only apply when that candidate is smaller. ZIP downloads keep safe source folder paths and file names.

Browser compatibility

A local WebP encoder is available when the browser cannot export WebP natively, including supported Safari versions. Raster processing is limited to 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Large batches are processed sequentially; ZIP output is limited to 500 MB.
